Christmas Book Emporium in Durham 3rd & 4th December
This weekend Theresa Easton will be taking part in New Writing North’s Christmas Book Emporium in The Debating Chamber in the historic centre of Durham’s Palace Green.
On display will be The Sunderland Book Project with recent work on display by Anna Welsh and Fiona Barnes (photo & website coming soon).
Fiona Barnes is currently in her 3rd year FD Photography degree at Sunderland University.
Her book Freemasons’ Hall, Queen Street Sunderland is a documentary based project highlighting ‘the oldest purpose built meeting place in the world’, Fiona Barnes.
Also on display by Sunderland based creative practitioners will be work by Tony Redman, Pauline Alldis, Jo Cunningham, Tricia Green, Alyson Stoker, Pauline Taylor and work by national & international practitioners.
The Sunderland Book Project is a not for profit project. Books are not for sale and visitors are positively encouraged to pick the work up, browse and read at leisure.
Theresa Easton will be showing a selection of book work including the latest addition ‘The Gardening Book’ which presents a collection of lino prints and silk screen work on Hahnemuhle paper in a concertina style; as well as Travels in Time, which proved very popular at Ouseburn Open Studios, so much so that a visitor decided to help themselves, soshe is now left with just two copies! It is a beautiful book that sits comfortably in the palm of the hand when folded up, but when unraveled tells a simple story of world culture and animal representation inspired by the Hancock Museum’s collection.
