36 Lime Street-based artist Fiona Gray will be opening her studio doors for this weekend’s Spring Salon Sale and here is a sneak preview of some of the work she will have on sale.

This beautiful vintage style clock will enhance any room you choose to hang it in. The surface is printed paper glued onto a wooden backing & varnished. The clock hangs from a satin ribbon, with a selection of beads that compliment the overall design. The edges have been given an aged effect & a coloured tassel hangs from the base of the frame. You can choose either a heart or oval shaped clock. Also available as mirrors.

This is one of the ‘Coastal Range’ of cards, featuring a photo of a handmade wooden fishing boat with colourful fabric bunting. The rest of the card is simply illustrated & features the words ‘you can have a little fishy….’. A whimsical card to give someone for any occasion.
The Spring Salon Sale takes place at venues across the Ouseburn on Sunday March 23rd, 2014 from 10am – 5 pm. Entrance is free and all are welcome. See www.ouseburnopenstudios.org for further details.

Sue’s studio in Lime Street has been her base for the past twenty-three years. During this time she has undertaken commissions in Hospitals, Surgeries and Colleges including residencies within Schools, alongside private commissions as well as exhibition pieces.

Over the past year Sue has been developing the Ouseburn Glass Learners zone. Creating opportunities for those excited by glass to come and be taught by leading practitioners in her studio. The studio is a fantastic space for people interested in glass to come and experiment working with glass in an artist’s studio with access to professional tools and equipment.

Several Master classes in painting and casting were taught in 2013, this year we are building upon the programme with further classes. Sue is currently teaching ‘A Passion for Glass’ eight-week course with Dr Laura Johnston.

A new book exploring the history of the Ouseburn will be launched at 36 Lime Street for the Spring Salon Sale.
The book, authored by Sue Bright, is Bridging the Ouseburn, celebrating 135 years of bridging the Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle upon Tyne.
The 44 page book, which charts the history of Bridges over the Lower Ouseburn Valley, has two connections to 36 Lime Street as it was designed by Colin Hagan at Northern Design and it contains new photography by David Lawson.
It will be available for purchase from Colin Hagan’s studio on level 1. All profits from this publication will be donated to Ouseburn Festival 2014.

Come into studio 3F and see the artist at work. Emma will be in her painting gear and will be painting…you! That’s if you hang around long enough (and donate some money to The Blood Ivory Campaign).

Otherwise you can come and enjoy a glass of wine (or juice), eat some tasty nibbles and see the painting as it evolves throughout the day. The walls will be decorated with paintings, prints (lino and giclee) and other interesting one off pieces. Also for sale will be cards, mugs and a variety of clocks (etc etc etc)!

For more information and updates please see: www.emmaholliday.co.uk or search for Emma’s page on facebook.

The first Spring Salon brings two launches to Lime Street that celebrate the past and future of cultural heritage in the Ouseburn. 36 Lime Street really is a must visit venue for the Spring Salon. Where else could you find yourself being painted into the latest Emma Holliday (for a donation to The Blood Ivory Campaign), develop a passion for glass in Sue Woolhouse’s Ouseburn Glass Learners Zone, learn how to get your pet’s paw prints immortalised with ceramic artist Helena Seget, and get your hands on one of Louise Bradley’s exciting new prints for £25 in the first ever Silkscreen Slash Sale. Although many of the artists at Lime Street now accept credit cards, it is always worth bringing along cash or a chequebook to make sure you don’t miss out on that special bargain.
