Make your own personalised cake stand.
This is a chance for you to not only make your own plates, but to make your own cake stand.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to add your own graphics (including photographs and other images) onto the plates.  The sessions are being held every  Saturday morning, 10:00 – 12:00, starting 25th February  – 17th March 2012, at 36 Lime Street Studios, Ouseburn, Newcastle NE1 2PQ Cost: Optional 1st session (25th February) £20 (2hrs) Following 3 sessions (3rd, 10th & 17th March) £55 (6hrs)
All materials are included except for printing of transfers: Aprox £15 for 1 x A3 sheet.  (It is possible to share a sheet.)
Materials include plaster, porcelain clay, firings of finished pieces and 3-tier cake stand fixings.   The workshops are designed both for people who have no previous knowledge of working with clay and those with some.
Week 1  – 25th February – 10-12 – make plaster plate moulds (bring in own plates or select from a range I will provide).  Week 2 – 3rd March – 10-12 – using moulds made in week 1, produce porcelain plates and other objects. Week 3 – 10 March – 10-12 – paint (optional) and sand or glaze bisque fired plates Week 4 – 17th March 10 – 12 – apply transfers to glaze fired plates
Plates are ready for collection after one week later.
To book a space, payment must be made in advance. There’s limited parking in the street in front of the studios, and a lot of parking spaces behind the studios.
